Region 6 includes: Marion County. In March 2026, Earth Charter Indiana and the Indiana Wildlife Federation launched the Hoosier Habitat Challenge. The goal is to certify multi-county regions and communities across the entire state of Indiana in the National Wildlife Federation’s Community Wildlife Habitat program. Once certified, this Statewide Network of Community Wildlife Habitats will be the first of its kind in the United States, reaching all corners of Indiana. * When a community team registers, if it inherits tons of existing habitat points, it needs to reach 10% new habitats while as a team. Description

Briarcliff is a small community located along the south shore of Lake Travis and within the scenic lower Colorado River corridor. In 2022 the Briarcliff Property Management team, under the Briarcliff Property Owners Association, removed invasive bamboo and created and certified a small pollinator garden at our community center (#274790). This garden was just thr beginning as we began creating additional pockets of habitat elsewhere throughout the community in parks and along our trails and other BPOA properties. We have worked hard to conduct outreach and education programs for our residents about pollinators and urban wildlife; we share milestones and information about the benefits of native species and how to recognize invasive species via monthly posts in newsletters and social media; and we pass the word along to everyone we meet to let them know our next goal is to achieve NWF's Community Wildlife Habitat certificate. We have several residents who have responded and joined in our efforts, certifying their established habitats in their own backyards and vacant lots, as well as others who continue to create and certify new habitats across our community - all within the NWF guidelines and with our guidance as needed. This has been a true community effort, and we are proud to share our ongoing journey to create habitat islands throughout our wildlife urban interface. We always remind our residents that no hands are too small to make a big difference to the wildlife we live alongside and habitat we share along the south shores of Lake Travis and beyond.
