Cherry Hill Township, NJ

Cherry Hill, NJ

City or Town

Certified on: 9/14/2021

Description

Cherry Hill has long been a leader in municipal sustainability in New Jersey. A Sustainable Jersey Silver Certified Community since 2010, Cherry Hill was among the first towns in the state to adopt its own municipal sustainability plan. Our trail system includes 11 trails throughout the township including woodland, meadow and marshlands. The Cherry Hill Environmental Board launched our initiative to become a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat Community in the spring of 2020, and with the help of our residents and businesses, we accomplished this goal in the fall of 2021. We are now one of only 6 certified NWF Habitat Communities in the state of NJ. We would like to urge any residents who have not already done so to consider joining our effort by registering their own backyard or balcony as a National Wildlife Federation Certified Habitat.

Two miles of the Little Miami River, a National and State designated Scenic River, flow through our community. Registered on: 11/2/2021

Description

Hamilton Township is located in Mercer County, New Jersey. The township is the state's 9th-largest municipality. The township is located immediately east of the city of Trenton, the state's capital. Hamilton has many densely populated suburban areas, but it also has many parks and open spaces remaining. Unfortunately, in recent years there has been a sharp rise in development. I hope that putting the town on the road towards certifying as a community wildlife habitat will spread awareness of the importance of conservation and saving the animals we share this town with.
