Summary

The City of Boca Raton’s landscapes reflect a coastal South Florida ecosystem characterized by dune, coastal hammock, pine flatwoods, and mangrove-influenced habitats. Through native plant restoration, park and shoreline management, and community engagement, the City supports the National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat® program by providing essential resources for wildlife—native food sources, fresh water, protective cover, and safe areas for nesting and reproduction. These efforts help sustain local biodiversity, including pollinators, migratory birds along the Atlantic Flyway, and coastal species adapted to subtropical conditions, while strengthening ecological connectivity across parks, waterways, and residential landscapes.
