Summary

Boone County Indiana is 24 miles from east to west, 17.5 miles from north to south and covers an area of 423 square miles. It has a population of around 76,000 and includes 7 municipalities of varying size with 5 parks departments. Two thirds of the land is agricultural with the northern part of the county drained by Sugar Creek and the southwest corner by Big Raccoon Creek. Both of these watersheds flow westward into Montgomery County while the southeast is drained by Eagle Creek and flows into Marion County and Eagle Creek Reservoir. The Boone County Certified Habitat Challenge is spearheaded by the local CISMA - Boone County Invasives Cooperative - who are working with partners within the Beautify Boone collective which includes Boone County Solid Waste Management District, Purdue University Extension, Boone County Soil and Water Conservation District and Boone County Master Gardeners.
