Brookhaven is a city in north DeKalb County, Ga., in the metro Atlanta area. Brookhaven officially became a city in 2012 and stretches over 12 square miles. The City is home to approximately 60,000 residents served by 19 parks covering 352 acres and a thriving business community including major employers such as Oglethorpe University, Emory University, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. In 2020, the City formally established its Sustainable Brookhaven strategic framework consisting of five elements: natural environment, built environment, financial, organizational, and civic governance. The common feature of each element is that policies and activities performed by the City contribute to, or at least do not hinder, the progress toward a Sustainable Brookhaven.
