Summary

St. James was incorporated in 1999 and is located along the southeast coast of North Carolina – just a few miles from the old fishing village of Southport, NC, and about 30 miles south of Wilmington, NC. St. James is in Brunswick County, NC, which is characterized by growing communities nestled in some of the most unique wetland areas of the United States, and the global home of the Venus Flytrap. Our population is about 7,000 within 8.3 square miles. Roughly 43% of the St. James is permanently protected as nature preserves (over 500 acres), rich with mature Water Oaks, Loblolly Pines, Wax Myrtles, American Holly, Sweet Bay Magnolia, and more. An abundance of native wildlife thrives within this rich ecosystem, and our residents maintain an environmentally focused lifestyle. We registered on Earth Day 2023 and became certified in less than a year. www.townofstjamesnc.org and www.birdersofstjames.com
