SJ and the Intercoastal Waterway

500 acres of protected nature
Though our town is about 8.3 square miles, about 42% of the land is permanently protected as nature preserves.
Marshland habitat is protected
St. James contains about 250 ponds as well as creeks, rivers, and large expanses of natural marshlands.
A small coastal community
We are located in Brunswick County near the Cape Fear River, just inland from Oak Island and Southport, NC.
Venus Flytrap
The Venus Flytrap is found only within a 75-mile radius of Wilmington, North Carolina where it grows close to the ground, and benefits from controlled burns.
