Eatontown, NJ

City or Town

Population: 13597

Summary

The Borough of Eatontown is situated about three miles west of the Atlantic Ocean at Exit 105 on the NJ Parkway. It is 5.89 square miles with virtually equal por- tions of homeowners and renters. Two major highways (rts 35 and 36) divide the town into four quadrants. Each quadrant is home to an exceptional park. In the northwest quadrant is Wampum Park, a magnificent jewel with a beautiful lake with fishing, benches and a meditative view. Numerous birds make their home here including blue herons, egrets, and owls. The northeast is home to F. Bliss Price Arboretum and Wildlife Sanctuary. This 47-acre park is a miniature, diverse ecological model with a variety of habitats, wetlands, and wildlife, including the unique pie bald deer. Over 40 species of trees have been specified, which provide cover, nesting, and food sources. In the southeast is Leon Smock 80 Acre Park. It has been called the second most pristine old- growth forest in all of Monmouth County with its intact canopy. It also has trails and recreational fields. In the southwest, rich farmland forms Tarantolo (formerly Husky Brook) Park, with woods, wetlands, a stream, community garden and walking trails. Eatontown’s diverse terrestrial, forest and aquatic ecosystems attract a wealth of wildlife and provide enriching experiences for residents and visitors alike.
