Summary

Nestled in scenic Warren County, NJ, Allamuchy Township originated as a Quaker settlement. The township was formally incorporated on April 4, 1873. It is named after Lenni Lenape Chief Allamuchahokkingen, meaning “place within the hills.” The township covers an area of 21 square miles, but approximately 80% of the population is concentrated in the gated community of Panther Valley. Reclaimed Retention Basin

Retention Basin project was necessitated by Super Storm Sandy washing away plantings. With the help of the N.J. Audubon Society and a grant from the Xerces Society, the area was reclaimed.

Milkweed Guests

Several years ago, Village IV in Panther Valley planted a small garden of milkweed. This was taken in 2021. This year the plants are larger and more colorful. Attracting human visitors too!

Milkweed Memorial Garden

Small area dedicated to our neighbor Bob Vinson. He would plant the seeds, care for the plants, collect the larva and hatch the Monarchs.

Build A Habitat And They Will Come

Small tree in a small yard. Added a bird bath and native flowers. Spring brought a nest and momma and daddy cardinal to start a family. What a gift to hear chirps and to see baby’s firsts.
