Pierce County

Tacoma, WA

County

Population: 843954

Summary

Pierce County is the second most populous county in the state of Washington. Its cities are varied, and generally contain a good mixture of both nature and culture. It is made up of several ecoregions. Fort Lewis McChord, the largest, is made up of relatively undeveloped oak woodlands and prairies, and Nisqually, the second largest, is marshland. Pierce County is also home to an abundance of marine areas, conifer and evergreen forests, and beautiful Mt. Rainier National Park. Pierce County is well on its way to habitat certification, steadily reaching its goal of 750 points.
