Summary

Beech Mountain is the highest town in eastern America, peaking at 5506'. With 618 full-time residents in an area of six square miles, the low population density is attractive for a wide variety of wildlife. As a resort town, winter skiing and summer mountain biking, hiking, fishing, golfing and events bring an additional 5,000 to 10,000 people seasonally. Education about how to respect our environment and wildlife is ongoing through outreach, programming, and constant media via our two TV stations and our public information radio station. The town is committed to water conservation, habitat protection, fostering native plant life and safe habitats for all wildlife. Living in harmony with nature is a privilege we take seriously.
